This policy explains what the game Squad Shooter ("the game") does with information about you. The game is made by HM Studio, Albania ("we").
The short version
- The game makes you a guest account by itself. It has no name, email or password, just a random Player ID.
- A copy of your progress is kept online, so it can be restored.
- The game never asks for your name, email, contacts, photos, microphone or location, and it doesn't use your phone's advertising ID.
- Play data: anonymous facts about how you play help us fix the hard parts. You can turn it off. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland it stays off until you say yes.
- Crash reports: if the game crashes, a report goes to Unity so we can fix it. There's no switch for these.
- You can delete your account and progress in the game at any time (Settings > Account).
Who handles your data
We run the game's online parts on Unity Gaming Services, a service from Unity Technologies. Unity stores your account, your cloud save, play data and crash reports for us. Its privacy policy is at https://unity.com/legal/privacy-policy
Google handles purchases (once the store opens) and the rating card, under its own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
We don't sell your data and we don't share it with anyone else.
Your account and your progress
- Your guest account: the first time the game goes online, it signs in by itself with an anonymous account on Unity Gaming Services. The account is a random ID (your Player ID), not your name. Settings > Account shows it.
- Your game progress: your squad, gear, rewards, purchase history and in-game settings. It's saved on your phone. A copy is uploaded with your guest account after each run and when you leave the game, so your progress can be restored.
- Your purchase history: for each purchase, the product, its price, the date, what it gave you, and Google Play's reference for the purchase. The game uses it to deliver what you bought and to restore it.
- The server's clock: when the game connects, it asks our server for the time, so daily rewards and timers stay fair. This request carries your Player ID.
- Reinstalling: until sign-in with Google Play Games is added, reinstalling the game usually starts a new guest account. The old account's progress stays on our server until you ask us to delete it, so keep a note of your Player ID.
- How long we keep it: until you delete your account.
Game settings from our server
When the game starts, and when you come back to it after 15 minutes or more, it downloads its current settings from Unity. These settings let us switch off a broken event, show a short message, or ask you to update the game. To fetch them, Unity's software sends:
- your Player ID and an ID Unity creates for this installation of the game;
- the game's version;
- your phone's model, system version and language;
- technical details: processor, memory, screen, graphics chip, whether the phone is rooted, and which store installed the game.
Everyone gets the same settings. We don't use these details for anything else.
Play data
To find the hard parts of the game and fix them, the game sends Unity Analytics information about how it's played:
- Sessions: when the game opens and closes, and whether you're a new player.
- Your runs: which stage you played, how the run ended, how many Areas you cleared, how long it took, whether it was a first clear, and your Power, Rank and day number.
- Other moments: when you claim the Daily Drop, how many days you were away, which reminders went off while the game was closed, and which one you tapped to open it.
- Purchases: once the store opens, what you bought, its price and currency.
- Your phone: model, system version, language, processor, memory, screen, battery level and sound volume.
- IDs: an ID Unity creates for this installation, and your Player ID.
It doesn't include your name, email, contacts or advertising ID. The game never looks up your location. Unity may estimate your country from your internet (IP) address for its charts.
When it's sent:
- In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, or if the game can't tell where the phone is: nothing is sent until you say yes. The game asks once, after your first run. Closing the question counts as no.
- Everywhere else: it's on from the start until you turn it off.
- Anywhere: Settings > PRIVACY > Share play data turns it on or off at any time. Turning it off stops sending from then on. To remove what was already sent, delete your account (below) or email us.
How long it's kept: Unity keeps play data for up to 13 months.
Crash reports
If the game crashes, freezes or hits an error, Unity's built-in diagnostics send Unity a report so we can fix it. A report holds:
- what went wrong in the game's code;
- the game's version;
- your phone's model and system version;
- an ID Unity creates for this installation.
This is part of keeping the game working, so it's sent whether or not you share play data. Unity keeps crash reports for 90 days.
Purchases
The store isn't open yet. This section applies once it is.
Purchases are handled by Google Play. We never see your name, card or payment details. Google's privacy policy covers what Google Play does with them.
The game talks to Google Play through Unity's purchase software. When a purchase starts, is paid, fails or is delivered, that software sends Unity:
- the product, its price and currency, and Google's record of the purchase;
- IDs Unity creates for this installation of the game, and a session ID;
- the game's version;
- your phone's model, system version, language and storage size.
It doesn't send your name, your email or your advertising ID. These reports are part of how the store works, so they're sent whether or not you share play data.
Google's billing software also sends Google information about how purchases work, under Google's privacy policy.
Notifications
The game only sends notifications if you allow them. They are reminders, such as the day's reward. The game sets them up on your phone; they don't come from a server. If you share play data, the game counts which kind of reminder went off and which one you tapped (see Play data). You can turn reminders off in the game's Settings or in your phone's settings.
Rating the game
If the game asks for a rating, Google Play shows its own rating card. Google handles your rating and review; the game doesn't receive them.
Emailing us
Settings > SUPPORT > Contact us opens your email app with your Player ID, the game's version and your phone's model already filled in, so we can help faster. You can remove them before sending. We get your email address and what you write, and we use them only to answer you. We keep support emails for 12 months.
Ads and tracking
The game shows no ads. It doesn't use your phone's advertising ID, and it doesn't track you across other apps or websites.
Children
The game is not made for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has played it, email us and we'll delete the account.
Your choices and rights
- Turn play data or notifications on or off in Settings.
- Delete your account and progress in Settings > Account, or by email (below).
- Email us to get a copy of the data linked to your Player ID, or to have it corrected or deleted.
- If you live in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of the game adds new online features (for example ads, sign-in with Google Play Games, or leaderboards), we will update this policy and its date before that version is released, and say what changed.
